Care, Support, Togetherness: A New Counseling Center for Families in Čačak
The opening of the Counseling Center is part of the project “Marriage and Family Counseling Center,” implemented by the City of Čačak within the “PRO – Local Governance for People and Nature” Programme. The initiative represents another step toward strengthening the social protection system and improving the quality of services available to citizens.
Five professional staff members will work directly with users, while the City of Čačak and the Center for Social Work have adopted the necessary amendments to local regulations, creating conditions for the long-term sustainability of the service and permanent engagement of professionals providing counseling and therapy support.
In addition, the project includes equipping new premises for the Counseling Center, comprising two offices and a group activity room, as well as conducting a needs assessment among potential beneficiaries to improve access to and the quality of social protection services.
Through this initiative, Čačak becomes an example of good practice in improving social protection and family support services, demonstrating how collaboration and shared commitment can build stronger and more resilient communities.
The Programme "PRO - Local Governance for People and Nature" is jointly implemented by the United Nations agencies in Serbia - UNOPS, UNICEF, UNFPA, and UNEP, in cooperation with the Government of Serbia, and with the financial support of the Government of Switzerland.
