Thirteen Day Care Centres Receive Educational Materials
The donations were delivered to centres in Aleksinac, Bor, Ivanjica, Jagodina, Loznica, Niš, Pirot, Raška, Šabac, Užice, Vrnjačka Banja and Čačak. Selected based on the needs identified by service providers, the materials support the development of socio-emotional skills, motor abilities, communication and social interaction, while encouraging joint activities involving children, young people and their parents.
The support was provided to day care centres that participated over the past year in capacity-building activities focused on working with parents. Professionals from all 13 centres completed training programmes and took part in a mentoring process aimed at improving service quality and developing new approaches to parental engagement in day care activities.
Implemented in partnership between UNICEF and the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities, the donation further strengthens the capacities of day care centres to provide interactive and development-oriented support to children and young people, while creating more opportunities for parents to participate as active partners in the support process.
The donation was provided through the programme “PRO – Local Governance for People and Nature”, jointly implemented by UNOPS, UNICEF, UNFPA and UNEP in Serbia, in cooperation with the Government of Serbia and with the financial support of the Government of Switzerland.
